About Creswick WoolThis textile is Creswick Woollen Mills' world-class 840gsm 100% Wool fabric with a PFZ (potassium-fluro-zicronate) flame retardant treatment. The fabric has been engineered to provide additional heat and flame resistance, hot metal splash protection and warmth. Being 840gsm 100% Wool, the fabric provides an important extra layer of protection and is inherently flame retardant. The fabric provides outstanding splash resistance to molten aluminium, adding that additional layer of protection over a PR97™ shirt. The garment's sleeveless design doesn't restrict movement allowing workers freedom and mobility whist working in high risk environments. The vest is ideal for use as an over garment in any workplace where flame, heat and splash protection is required. In fact, the fabric has been selected and the garment constructed for specific use in primary and secondary aluminium environments where protection from flame, heat and metal splash, without restricting mobility, is absolutely vital. Independent Secondary Protective Clothing tests have been conducted by Indalloy Casting Group of Ontario, Canada. Indalloy is a division of Indalex Ltd, North America's and one of the world's largest suppliers of aluminium extrusion components and services. Their tests found as follows: A stand was set up consisting of a thin painted steel sheet angled at 65° and running into a steel pit sow. For the run-off tests the sample was draped over the steel sheet and approximately 0.5 kg of molten aluminium at approximately 1350°F (732°C) was poured over it. Run-off Test
For the burn through/ignition tests the material was placed in the steel pit sow and approximately 0.5 kg of molten aluminium was poured on and allowed to sit until the material ignited or burned through. Burn Through/Ignition Test
Usage GuideThe table below is intended as a guide only for the Creswick wool and its suitability for nominated industry sectors.
